Autonomous Enterprise Readiness
Twelve questions, four areas, no vendor logo. If the honest answers are uncomfortable, that discomfort is the roadmap.
The Autonomous Enterprise stands or falls on four preconditions: shared business context, unified data, embedded governance, and an operating model in which action follows insight without a queue. This self-assessment tests all four. Score each question red / amber / green — as a leadership team, not as an IT exercise.
1 · Shared business context
- Can your systems trace how a decision in one function propagates into the next (order → supply → finance), without a human explaining it?
- Are exceptions documented as rules somewhere a machine could read — or do they live in people’s heads?
- Does any single team own the end-to-end process map, and is it current?
2 · Unified data
- Do finance and operations answer the same question with the same number?
- Is there one governed source for master data — or several, reconciled by hand?
- How much of your reporting starts with a manual extract?
3 · Embedded governance
- Is AI governance designed into processes, or reviewed after the fact?
- For each automated action: is it explainable, auditable and reversible?
- Who is accountable — by name — when an autonomous action goes wrong?
4 · Actionable operating model
- Where does an insight today wait longest before someone acts — and why?
- Which process could run signal-to-action without a hand-off tomorrow, safely?
- Are people rewarded for coordinating work, or for moving it forward?
Reading your score
Mostly green: pick one end-to-end process and pilot coordinated autonomy there — you are past the experimentation phase. Mostly amber: your constraint is structural, not technical; fund the data and context work before more AI licences. Mostly red: the honest first project is a clean core and data-governance programme — autonomy on top of fragmentation automates the chaos.
